Chapter Text

"I can see it now... A boy like you? With a guiding hand, you just might become the greatest hero of us all."

For the first day of class, U.A. High School sure was pretty quiet. With all the buzz about the school you'd expect any number of batshit looking faces filling the halls, a buncha’ nameless extras all on their way to class, excited to start this ‘new chapter’ of their lives… but what Katsuki Bakugou found instead was, nothing. Quiet endless halls with the morning sun shining bright through walls of windows as his footsteps echoed out all the way to the gargantuan door of Class 1-A, an entrance stretching up far beyond him all the way to the ceiling up high. It was about now he wondered if he could’ve, gotten the day wrong, or something? Eh, what the hell, Katsuki thought - figuring that this was probably just part of this school’s freaky ass induction process, as he would put it. So, as casually as ever, the boy’s callous palm took a grip of the handle, and pushed forward, the entrance swinging open to reveal Katsuki’s spiky-silhouette, bringing a pause to a room that just moments prior was filled with conversation.

He didn’t have too much time to get a lay of the land at this point - mainly spotting a handful of real freaky looking weirdos- be it a girl who’s totally pink from head to toe, some tall-ass guy with a buncha’ tentacles- or even some dude with a totally normal body but a giant freaky bird head! Katsuki felt that he stood out immediately amongst the crowd, all eyes on him, an unbuttoned uniform accompanying his stand-offish, some would even say ‘pissed off’ look perfectly.

“So, that makes 19.”
The first to speak up was one of the tallest in the room- a broad-shouldered man with two sets of eyes and jet black hair, a real poindexter. He stood out amongst the others not only from his size but demeanor. That uniform of his looked fitted exactly for him, not only that but from a passing glance that shit looked like it had been ironed to perfection moments before he went running off to class. “Good morning, classmate!” Without Katsuki moving an inch, four-eyes approached all on his own, giving the boy an odd salute as a sort of show of… What, good faith? Respect? Katsuki could hardly tell. “Tenya Iida! It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

“I’m sure it is, man.”
Without paying the man a second thought, Katsuki stepped past Iida, leading to a far more cross expression on his face, and a stray few laughs through people in the class. Some standing up near the back in conversation, some sitting quietly at their desks, and some leaning back or sitting atop their own tables. As he searched for an open spot, landing on one pretty close to the window, just behind some invisible chick. It seemed better than nothing, being pretty near the front and all, so just as his backside sat down against the metal of the chair, the legs would push back, as Bakugou’s shoes, the same that he had worn for the entire previous year at middle school, were put on full display, his chair even bumping against the occupied desk behind him, which to the amusement of many, was quickly noticed by that very same Tenya Iida.

“Ah, attitude and disrespect to school property!?” With a quick chop of his hand in Katsuki’s direction, he let out his anger- with the expressions of many others surrounding him showing that he was hardly the first to get lectured by this clown. “You’ve barely been here a minute and you’re already spitting in the face of everything this school stands for! Do you not all understand?! This place is bigger than just us! It’s—”

“Aw, Give him a break Iida!” The pink girl with the antennas was the next to speak up, far more relaxed than the freakshow deciding to lecture him before their damned teacher even showed up.

“Yeah man!” Another one spoke up, this time a guy’s voice. Red hair spiked up and teeth fit for a shark, the both of them sitting near the other end of the room. “We’re all just so pumped!”

“—Becauuuuse, we LOVE what the school stands for!” The pink chick with raccoon eyes spoke up once more, taking the reins after Shark-Teeth tried to get the hardass of the class off his back.

“Yeah!” Shitty Hair interrupted again.

“Yeah!!” Raccoon Eyes repeated louder.

“Yeah!!!” You could see where this is going.

Most of the class didn’t look too entertained by either side of this talk- finding them both to be pretty disruptive- although a handful of laughs did manage to cut through. The louder Iida yelled at them for any minor misbehavior, the louder the class became. They were all still kids after all, barely out of middle school. Put them all in a room without a teacher and all hell will start to break loose, for as much as Iida tried his very best to keep ahold of the chain if this room was given another half an hour like this there was no doubt in Katsuki’s mind it’d turn into a straight brawl, just pure cage fighting– a pure Thunderdome with no victors and no purpose…! For as funny as the thought was, it was quickly interrupted by the slam open of the entrance once more, the entire class’ mouths shutting at once and heads turning like deers hearing a gunshot to that same door he had just made his entrance from minutes ago… Katsuki wondered to himself, if this was what it was like for all- what, eighteen people before him?

“Aha! That makes 20! A Full house!” That same hardass who was just on Katsuki’s tail seconds ago completely switched tunes as he made his way back towards the entrance, towering over a girl, one shorter than average - and from where Katsuki was sitting, pretty much completely concealing her around his wide-ass shoulders. The explosive boy’s head turned, in some attempt to get a better look at the girl as the two spoke in a far kinder fashion than he and Iida did prior.

“Tenya Iida!” The titular student proclaimed, doing that same stupid looking salute. “It’s a pleasure to meet you!”

“O-Oh!” Her voice was higher than Katsuki expected, with her at a bit of a loss on how to respond to Tenya other than- surprisingly so, matching his own energy. “Nice to meet you too!! Ochaco Uraraka! At your service!” The chick was just about screaming her words as she offered a hand to Iida with a smile on her face, leaving the four-eyes gleaming to see somebody else that appreciated his way of doing things. Getting a better look at her, she didn’t look all that special, weird hair, big eyes, and cartoonishly rosy cheeks. her face had a smile from ear to ear, those bridges ending in prominent rosy cheeks, she was cute enough but all and all nothing too special looking. Still.. As Katsuki stared towards that doorway, he couldn’t help but feel like he had seen her somewhere before…

And Ochaco? She looked excited as hell, a big plastered smile over her face- hell, scrap excited- the girl was gleaming as she made eye contact with each and every student in the room who cared to pass her a glance, her gaze spreading through the room like a sonar up until she saw a pair of deep crimson eyes staring back, leaving her to pause - Like she was having the exact same thought as him ‘Just where could I have possibly seen him before’ she must have been wondering, all until the girl’s face dropped, finally putting the pieces together, her finger pointing straight towards him from across the class.

“You!” Uraraka gasped.
“You’re that mean guy!!”

Katsuki paused, just what the hell was she even talking—
“Oh shit! You’re that lame-ass from the exam!” The blond retorted after a moment of reflection, pointing a finger out a his voice echoed with a kind of snarky laughter to it. Katsuki had a… Vague memory of this girl. They met outside of the hall for U.A.’s entrance exam. They barely talked but if he recalled it ended up in… Her saying some unprompted nice shit after catching him nearly land on his ass with her quirk, that kinda fake-nice that strangers put on, but she just wouldn’t shut up to him! all this ‘Good Luck!; shit to a total stranger. So, some way, some how, it probably ended in Katsuki insulting her skills or- maybe her looks, or, something. It’s not like he could remember every useless extra he met on a day to day basis!

“Language!” A girl with a black pigtail talked up, one who had stayed silent till now, one sitting near the far back-corner of the room, but her voice made just as much of an impression as Iida’s had prior.

“Oh right, I do remember him at the exam—”
Another third party spoke up, this time a girl with freaky fleshy earphones stuck onto her lobes. She looked to be recalling the exam too. Hitting her hand into her palm, she spoke up to the class again. “That’s right! You were the one calling everyone ‘weaklings’ or ‘extras’ the whole time!”

“Yeah! Now I remember!” A shitty dye-job blond spoke up, one who was sitting just next to the earphone bitch. “My buddy was in the same arena as him, said the dude was scary as hell.”

Next, the tiny grape-looking motherfucker opened his mouth. “Yeah, no shit.” He laughed, in a snotty and nasally voice.

This time, some douche with an obviously fake accent started spewing nonsense. “Say what you want but I heard he’s the one who helped that boy out when that sludge monster attacked some time ago! He can’t be all that foul then, can he?”

Katsuki’s ears perked up, leading to his chair crashing down on all fours, and his hands slamming down onto the desk before him, those around him whispering rumors heard from around the exam, and some even from before. Rumors about how he never had any competition before now, or hell- some people were even saying he told some quirkless runt to take a swandive… Frankly though? Katsuki took no offense to the rumors- he was used to that, he was more mad at the fact nobody had the guts to talk to him about it face to face.

“Oh yeah— GOT SOMETHING TO SAY?!”
The blond yelled out, standing up straight while his voice cut through the discussions, and as Katsuki’s hand came slamming down, he instinctively let out a small blast from his quirk, one that would typically be a small little poof, a bluff, a crack. Yet today for some reason, when that hand reached the desk, that explosion shot his hand shoot upright, making even his own crimson eyes open wide- a white hot explosion burned through layers of the table, essentially flashbanging both he and his classmates. Katsuki could only stand there, witnessing this desk that was meant to last him to the end of the year immediately become scrap within minutes of seeing it for the first time, his own ears turned red hot, as the legs of the chair buckled under the weight while the metal bent down in a flash, the whole thing smoking as all eyes were on him once more…

…He forgot about that.
His quirk.

Katsuki swallowed his pride, feeling it would be better to simply let this little accident stand as a demonstration of what’d happen to anyone who thought they could talk shit about him!... Yet, Katsuki’s eyes would drift down to that very same palm the fiery blast came from. Feeling a particularly odd sensation even now, while everyone in the class either laughed his reaction off, were unamused at their bickering, or looked actively afraid to sit near him, all he could think about was just…
His hand was numb. Even now, his palm stung with sensation, letting his fingers move around to regain feel in that familiar callous hand. Keeping quiet is something that Katsuki hated with a passion if it wasn’t obvious already, but looking down at this black-charred table before him, it would probably be best if he kept to himself and just let the rumors about him spread just as they always have.

Instead of bothering with the insects surrounding him, Katsuki thought that for now maybe he should just.. Think. Think back on the talk he had with All Might just a few days prior now.
And he done just that, as his chair leaned back once more, his shoes taking their spot on his disgraced desk.

Notes:

I truly don't plan on just making this a one for one remake of the source material but just, "what if it was Bakugou"
There's a lot more to do with this concept than just reheat Midoriya's scraps, and because of that I hope you end up staying tuned! (-‿◦☀)
