When Phineas had pulled the stunt, he’d counted on a little complaining; on Philip being sore at him later, and more than a bit annoyed. He’d figured on returning from the bank to find a very bored, very irritated shareholder. But he’d also counted on the humor that was supposed to follow, that usually followed any of his antics towards the young man.
A scene with Phillip doubled over on the floor in a panic and W.D. losing his wits trying to help hadn’t even crossed Barnum’s mind.
Exasperated and in need of a little elbow room, Phineas (being Phineas) pulls a seemingly harmless prank that has disastrous consequences for his junior partner.
