Shinsou’s life hasn’t been great so far, his quirk is considered that of a villain, Hitoshi’s very own mother believed this, and abandoned him when he was four. Fueled by spite and a strong desire to help people, he does his best in the sports festival, in hopes of being transferred into the hero course. Hitoshi's dreams of becoming a hero are shattered though, when Midoriya breaks free of Hitoshi’s brainwashing. Causing him to lose to Midoriya. His efforts at the sports festival do not go unnoticed though, as pro hero and teacher, Shota Aizawa offers to train Shinsou, and help him get into the hero course. training is going well but Certain things about Aizawa’s protege concern him but Shinsou insists that he's fine, and does his best to hide what's happening behind closed doors from his mentor, but that all comes crashing down when he's accused of doing something sick, something he didn't do.
